Job summary

Woollahra Council in Sydney seeks a Traffic & Transport Engineer to join our Engineering Services team on a permanent full‑time basis. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work within a high‑performing team and deliver reports and expertise on traffic and parking impacts.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in traffic or civil engineering, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience with development assessment.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in traffic engineering, civil engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in traffic and transport engineering and parking management, including relevant practical experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in Development Assessment relating to traffic management and parking, including relevant practical experience
  • Demonstrated experience with working in a team and/or autonomously, including managing and prioritising workloads.
  • Proven ability to work independently and to support a team in the efficient delivery of services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relative legislation, standards, RMS guidelines and manuals.
  • Highly developed analysis, report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in community consultation.
  • High computer literacy, particularly Microsoft packages.
  • Current C Class driver's licence.
  • Previous Local Government experience
  • TFNSW Select/ Modify Traffic Control Plans (Red ticket) and TfNSW Design & Inspect Traffic Control Plans (Orange ticket)
  • Ability to utilise AutoCAD, AutoTurn and SIDRA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare appropriate reports to the Traffic Committee, and carry out actions to implement Traffic Committee resolutions.
  • Provide timely reports and advice to the Planning & Development Section related to the potential impacts of proposed developments on Council’s traffic management and parking infrastructure and recommend appropriate action, including consent conditions and works in association with development.
  • Arrange surveys and data collection relating to traffic, transport and parking issues.
  • Arrange community and key stakeholder notification of traffic management proposals.
  • Provide technical advice to other Council staff and the community regarding traffic related issues. This advice is to be based on appropriate industry standards.

  • Base salary up to$114,736.96 p.a. + super + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance
  • Private use leaseback vehicle with access secure parking in Double Bay
  • Fortnightly rostered day off + potential to work from home 2 days per week
About the role

We are offering an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Traffic & Transport Engineer to join our Engineering Services team at Woollahra Council on a permanent full time basis.
