Job summary

Woollahra Council in Sydney is seeking an experienced Traffic & Transport Engineer to join the Engineering Services team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Traffic & Transport Team Leader, you will prepare reports, advise on developments' traffic impacts, and manage parking and transport projects.

The role requires a tertiary qualification in traffic or civil engineering, strong analytical and communication skills, and Australian work rights.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in traffic engineering, civil engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of traffic, transport engineering and parking management.
• Experience in development assessment relating to traffic management and parking.
• Ability to work in a team or autonomously, with workload prioritisation.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, RMS guidelines and manuals.
• Strong analysis, reporting and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in community consultation.
• High computer literacy, especially Microsoft packages.
• Current C Class driver's licence.
• Local Government experience.
• TFNSW Select/Modify Traffic Control Plans (Red ticket) and TfNSW Design & Inspect Traffic Control Plans (Orange ticket).
• Ability to utilise AutoCAD, AutoTurn and SIDRA.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports to Traffic Committee and implement resolutions.
• Provide timely reports and advice on developments' traffic impacts.
• Arrange surveys and data collection relating to traffic, transport and parking issues.
• Arrange community and key stakeholder notification of traffic management proposals.
• Provide technical advice to other Council staff and the community based on industry standards.

Base salary up to$114,736.96 p.a. + super + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance

Private use leaseback vehicle with access secure parking in Double Bay

Fortnightly rostered day off + potential to work from home 2 days per week

About the role

We are offering an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Traffic & Transport Engineer to join our Engineering Services team at Woollahra Council on a permanent full time basis.

Reportingdirectly to the Traffic & Transport Team Leader, you will join a high performing andcollaborative team.

The position will require you to:

Prepare appropriate reports to the Traffic Committee, and carry out actions to implement Traffic Committee resolutions.

Provide timely reports and advice to the Planning & Development Section related to the potential impacts of proposed developments on Council’s traffic management and parking infrastructure and recommend appropriate action, including consent conditions and works in association with development.

Arrange surveys and data collection relating to traffic, transport and parking issues.

Arrange community and key stakeholder notification of traffic management proposals.

Provide technical advice to other Council staff and the community regarding traffic related issues. This advice is to be based on appropriate industry standards.

About you

We are looking to engage a professional who has all the skills and attributes necessary to deliver for our community. You will be a high achiever with:

Tertiary qualifications in traffic engineering, civil engineering or a related field.

Demonstrated technical knowledge in traffic and transport engineering and parking management, including relevant practical experience.

Demonstrated technical expertise in Development Assessment relating to traffic management and parking, including relevant practical experience

Demonstrated experience with working in a team and/or autonomously, including managing and prioritising workloads.

Proven ability to work independently and to support a team in the efficient delivery of services.

Demonstrated knowledge of relative legislation, standards, RMS guidelines and manuals.

Highly developed analysis, report writing and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated experience and skills in community consultation.

High computer literacy, particularly Microsoft packages.

Current C Class driver's licence.

Previous Local Government experience

TFNSW Select/ Modify Traffic Control Plans (Red ticket) and TfNSW Design & Inspect Traffic Control Plans (Orange ticket)
