Job summary

Woollahra Council is seeking a motivated Horticulturist for our Paddington depot on a permanent, full-time basis. You will perform scheduled horticultural maintenance in high-profile parks and gardens, including weeding, mowing, playground inspections, whipper work and litter pickup.

Based at Quarry Street, Paddington and our Trumper Park Depot, you will plan yearly tasks, order plants, identify hazards and respond to resident requests.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Horticulture, or completion towards or equivalent.
• Experience in the use and maintenance of small plant equipment.
• Demonstrated practical experience in a similar role.
• Commitment to Work Health and Safety and safe procedures.
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence; Traffic Control qualifications.
• Construction Induction Card; Chemical Application Level 3.

Responsibilities

• Weeding and mowing; playground inspections; whipper work; litter clean-up; and improvement works across parks and streetscapes.
• Forward planning for yearly maintenance tasks; ordering plants; reporting hazards; and actioning community requests.

Education

Certificate III in Horticulture

Current Class C Driver’s Licence

Job description

• Base salary $77,396 - $85,544 + additional allowance of $1,055.08 p.a. plus super
• 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday with a fortnightly rostered day off
• Working out of Quarry Street, Paddington and our Trumper Park Depot, Paddington

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and physically fit Horticulturist to join Woollahra Council on a permanent full-time basis.

Working out of our Paddington depot, you will carry out scheduled works for Horticultural maintenance in high profile parks and gardens. Your main duties will include weeding and mowing as well as to conduct playground inspections, whipper work and cleaning (Litter Pick Up), and general improvement works in parks, gardens, sports fields and streetscapes.

You will also be responsible for forward planning for yearly maintenance tasks, ordering of plants, identifying and reporting hazards and following up and actioning customer requests.

About you

We are looking for a qualified Horticulturist witha great work ethic, a positive can-do attitude and a passion for working outdoors. Your exceptional customer service skills and your eagerness to work collaboratively in a small team will ensure your success in this role.

• Demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety in the workplace and the practical application of safe working procedures.
