Job summary

Apex Masonry is seeking a hands-on Yard Operations Assistant to manage the day-to-day operation of our trade yard. The role involves serving tradies and customers, coordinating orders, loading and unloading, and ensuring stock is accurate and well-presented.

You will work closely with the Maryborough office, operate forklifts, maintain safety and tidy yard, and resolve issues promptly with a practical, independent approach.

Qualifications

• A current forklift licence – essential.
• Experience in trade, construction, landscaping, building materials, warehousing, transport or yard operations.
• Retail and trade sales experience – highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the trade yard.
• Serve and assist trade and retail customers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Coordinate customer orders, pickups and collections.
• Load and unload trucks, customer vehicles and transport vehicles.
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing stock, deliveries and transport movements.
• Check deliveries, stock transfers and outgoing loads against paperwork.
• Work with the Maryborough office to coordinate stock transfers, deliveries, collections and transport.
• Maintain accurate stock control and identify shortages, damage or discrepancies.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, sales staff and internal teams.
• Ensure yard is clean, safe, organised and professionally presented.
• Operate forklifts and other yard equipment.
• Identify issues, take initiative and resolve problems promptly.
• Take responsibility for maintaining an efficient, safe and well-run yard.

About you

A current forklift licence – essential

Experience in trade, construction, landscaping, building materials, warehousing, transport or yard operations

Retail and trade sales experience – highly regarded

Confidence dealing with tradies, customers, drivers and suppliers

An understanding of stock control, freight, dispatch and transport logistics

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Excellent common sense and practical problem-solving abilities

A reliable, hands-on approach and the ability to perform physical work

The ability to work independently, make decisions and take responsibility

A strong focus on workplace safety and maintaining a tidy, efficient yard
