Job summary

Grand Pacific Group is seeking a Trade Waiter for The Marion in Canberra to work closely with the Restaurant Manager and senior team. This hands-on role covers all venue operations, including team leadership, supervision, and wine and beverage service in a premium setting near Lake Burley Griffin.

Responsibilities include greeting guests, taking reservations, recommending dishes and wines, serving, handling payments, and ensuring the venue maintains high standards.

Job description

Our Trade Waiter works closely with the Restaurant Manager and Senior Management Team to ensure seamless operations and a positive guest experience. This is a hands-on role that also involves all operational aspects of the venue management including team leadership, supervision, and of course food and beverage service.

Key responsibilities

• Setting and arranging tables
• Taking reservations, greeting customers and presenting them with menus and beverage lists
• Recommending dishes and wines to complement food (particularly in fine-dining establishments)
• Taking orders and relaying them to kitchen and bar staff
• Serving food and beverages
• Opening bottles and pouring beverages including mixing liquor and assisting in the cellar
• Clearing tables and returning dishes and cutlery to the kitchen; removing empty bottles and used glasses from tables, and refilling and replacing glasses
• Collecting payments for sales and operating point of sales machines and cash registers
• Meeting operational goals (KPI's) and working within agreed systems, policies, procedures and authority levels
• Ensuring upkeep of the venue is at the highest level and reporting otherwise
