Job summary

Stevens Cargo Services Pty Ltd in Geelong is seeking a Trades Assistant to support the unloading operations at Geelong Port. This hands-on role involves cleaning, maintenance and minor repairs to machinery such as grabs, hoppers, tractors, forklifts and generators.

You will work as part of a small team, rotating on-call roster, with a current driver's licence required and flexibility for weekends or out-of-hours work when ships are in port. MSIC/Police checks may apply.

Qualifications

• Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
• Mechanical, electrical or hydraulic experience preferred.
• Good computer literacy.
• Willing to rotate on-call roster when vessels are in port.
• Forklift/EWP licence helpful but not required.
• Police checks for MSIC card required.

Responsibilities

• Clean machines at the workshop.
• On-call support for vessels when rostered.
• Lubricate and clean equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs.
• Preventative maintenance.
• Wash down machinery between ships.
• Service hydraulic systems and diesel motors as needed.
• Set up machinery for operations.
• Load/unload machinery from trucks.
• Liaise with port staff and contractors.

Stevens Cargo Services isthe supplier ofspecialised machinery to the bulk shipping industry.The Australian owned & operated family company wasestablished in 1990 and operate nationwide.

The Trades assistant role is essentially a hands on role.

Located in Geelong, this position will provide cleaning and maintenance to machinery used in the unloading of bulk vessels at the Geelong Port.

Ensuring all machinery, namely, Grabs, Hoppers, Tractors, forklifts, Generators, service vehicles, etc. are cleaned and serviced at all times in accordance with the high company standards.

Rotating on call roster when vessels are being unloaded.

Please note, this role requires a current driver's licence.

Applicants hourly ratewill be determined based on Skills, Qualifications and experience.

Duties:

• Cleaning Machines at the workshop.
• When rostered, being on call when required to provide support to all vessels using Stevens equipment.
• Lubricating and cleaning equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs when required
• Preventative Maintenance.
• washing down of machinery between vessels
• servicing between and during shipping operations,refuelling, servicing hydraulic systems and diesel motors(dependent on applicants previous experience)
• Setting up Machinery for operations.
• liaising with staff and contractors in the port.
• load / unload machinery from truck

Essential qualities for the role include:

• Have a strong work ethic and are self-motivated
• Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience preferred.

• Can multi task and enjoy being part of a team
