Job summary

Talent Focus is seeking a hands-on Trades Assistant in Smithfield to support Service Technicians with the disassembly, assembly, servicing and preparation of customer products. You'll work under the Workshop Supervisor in a busy, safety-conscious workshop.

This full-time role offers Monday to Friday hours 7:00am to 3:00pm, an hourly rate of $32.9606 plus benefits, and overtime at double time from the first 15 minutes. Ideal candidates have mechanical experience and a willingness to learn.

• General mechanical experience
• Hands-on workshop experience
• Experience with mechanical products or equipment
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Forklift licence – preferred
• Overhead crane experience – preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist Service Technicians with the disassembly and assembly of customer products
• Clean, organise and prepare parts and equipment
• Maintain a clean, tidy and organised workshop environment
• Receive and assist with incoming product deliveries
• Assist with painting and final assembly of products
• Pack and prepare completed products for shipment
• Assist Service Technicians with repairs, servicing and other workshop activities
• Operate plant and equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes
• Follow all company policies, procedures and WHS requirements
• Maintain positive and professional working relationships with Service Centre team members

About the Role

As a Trades Assistant, you will provide hands-on support to Service Technicians with the disassembly, assembly, servicing and preparation of customer products.

Working under the guidance of qualified technicians and reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring products are serviced, prepared and completed to a high standard while maintaining a safe, clean and organized workshop.

• Previous general mechanical experience
• Practical, hands-on experience in a workshop, service or similar environment
• Experience working with mechanical products or similar equipment
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Forklift Licence – preferred
• Previous overhead crane experience – preferred
