Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited, Tropicana Gold Mine, seeks an Electrical Technician to join our Underground Maintenance team. You will perform repairs, maintenance and installation of electrical systems and contribute to safe, efficient operations on site.

The role operates on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster with direct flights from Perth and Kalgoorlie to site. You must hold a WA Electrical Licence and have mining/heavy industry experience; on-call shifts and power isolation duties

Qualifications

• Underground mining electrical maintenance experience is essential.
• WA Electrical Licence is essential.
• Data cabler’s licence advantageous.
• Current High Voltage Switching certificate – can assist with obtaining.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance and installation on motors, VSDs, transformers, substations and distribution boards.
• Carry out scheduled statutory electrical work safely and efficiently.
• Install and maintain underground reticulation systems for reliable power distribution.
• Conduct breakdown and maintenance work on underground drilling equipment to minimise downtime.
• Study plans and work orders to determine requirements and sequencing.
• Be available after hours on a rotating call-out roster.
• Assist with shutdowns and power isolation activities.

We are seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Underground Maintenance team at Tropicana Gold Mine. Reporting to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, you will provide frontline support and ensure all electrical work is carried out in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible manner.

This role is based at Tropicana Gold Mine on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, with direct flights provided from Perth and Kalgoorlie to site.

About the Role

• Performing repairs, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure such as motors, VSDs, transformers, substations, starter panels, distribution boards, RMUs, ventilation fans, dewatering systems, instrumentation, communications, lighting, and other electrical systems
• Carrying out scheduled statutory work safely and efficiently
• Installing and maintaining underground reticulation systems to ensure reliable power distribution
• Conducting breakdown and maintenance work on underground drilling equipment to minimise downtime
• Studying plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and the sequence of repairs and/or installations
• Being available after hours as part of a rotating call-out roster and responding to equipment breakdowns as required
• Assisting with equipment maintenance shutdowns and the coordination and execution of power isolations

• Unrestricted WA Electrical Licence (Essential)
• Electrical Instrumentation Certificate, PLCs and Automation experience (Desirable)
• Data cabler’s license advantageous
• Mining or heavy industry electrical maintenance experience (Essential)
• Underground Mining electrical maintenance experience is preferred
• Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations, AS/NZS 3000 and other relevant Australian Standards.
• Current High Voltage Switching certificate – however can assist with obtaining
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects, and SAP
• WA ‘C’ Class manual driver’s license
• Senior First Aid
• Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory)
