Job summary

Fuso Australia is seeking expressions of interest for a Melbourne-based role to design curriculum and learning pathways that build technician capability across Australia. The position is initially a fixed-term (6 months) during the pre-completion period.

You will develop frameworks, content and resources, lead curriculum development and align training with future products and technologies, including dealer and service stakeholder engagement.

Job description

We are seeking expressions of interest from people with deep technical expertise across trucks, heavy vehicles, automotive OEMs, dealer networks or technical support functions who are passionate about developing others, sharing knowledge and building capability.

This Melbourne-based opportunity will initially be offered on a fixed-term basis (6 months) during the pre‑completion period. Rather than stepping into an established program, you will help create the frameworks, curriculum and learning pathways intended to support technician capability across Australia.

The opportunity

• Working closely with technical, aftersales and industry stakeholders, you will play a foundational role in designing the structure, content and delivery approach for a future technical training and capability function.
• During the initial fixed-term period, your focus will be on curriculum design, training development, learning-resource creation, capability frameworks, manufacturer‑led training and other preparatory activities.
• Build a national technical capability and learning framework.
• Design technician learning pathways from apprentice through to advanced diagnostic levels.
• Lead curriculum development, including technical content, practical learning activities, assessment programs and supporting resources.
• Develop training aligned with future products, emerging technologies and capability requirements.
• Create engaging technical learning programs across practical, classroom and blended learning environments.
• Develop approaches and resources intended to support future engagement with dealer and service stakeholders following completion of the proposed transaction.
• Help shape the future direction of technical training and capability for the proposed national network.

Who we are hoping to hear from

We are particularly interested in experienced professionals from automotive and commercial vehicle environments, including truck and vehicle manufacturers, dealer networks, technical support organisations, fleet maintenance operations and automotive training providers.

You will bring

• Strong technical credibility gained in automotive, truck, heavy vehicle or commercial vehicle environments.
• The ability to translate complex technical information into clear, practical learning experiences.
• Experience in curriculum development, technical training, technician coaching, mentoring or structured capability development.
• A practical understanding of diagnostics, service and repair environments.
• A collaborative style and confidence engaging with technical and operational stakeholders.
• A trade qualification in heavy commercial vehicle mechanical technology, diesel mechanics, automotive electrical or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain one.

International training opportunities

A key requirement of this opportunity is the ability to travel overseas for dedicated manufacturer‑led training. The successful candidate will participate in specialised technical training, product familiarisation, trainer development and capability initiatives with Fuso global teams. This international exposure will support the translation of global technical knowledge and future product developments into learning programs for the Australian market.

Applicants must be willing and able to undertake periodic international travel.

A note about this opportunity

Fuso Australia is proposed to become the Australian distributor of Fuso vehicles, subject to the satisfaction of relevant conditions, including regulatory approvals and completion of the proposed transaction. During the initial fixed‑term period, this role will focus on preparing for the future business, including training, capability development and curriculum design. It will not include responsibility for the day‑to‑day operation of the distribution business during this period.
