We are seeking a Technical Service Trainer to join our Melbourne-based team and play a critical role in developing the capabilities of Caterpillar dealer technicians, customer technicians, and Caterpillar employees across Australia, New Zealand, and selected international markets.

As part of a global network of training professionals and technical experts, you will deliver world-class learning experiences that improve technician performance, accelerate problem-solving capability, and support customer success across Caterpillar's diverse product portfolio.

About the Role:

As a Technical Service Trainer, you will develop and deliver technical training programs that enable technicians and service professionals to diagnose, maintain, repair, and optimise Caterpillar products and systems.

You will facilitate engaging classroom, workshop, and hands-on learning experiences while partnering with dealers, customers, product groups, and subject matter experts to ensure training remains current, practical, and aligned with industry needs.

Training delivery will primarily support Australia and New Zealand, with opportunities for international travel and collaboration across Caterpillar's global learning network.

What You Will Do:

Training Delivery

Deliver high-quality technical training programs for:

End User Customer Technicians

Technical Support Teams

Emerging and Experienced Service Professionals

Facilitate courses including:

Electronic Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

Master Mechanic Programs

Engine Applications and Installation

Engine Emissions Systems

Power Train Systems

Caterpillar Diagnostic Tools and Technologies

Learning Development

Deliver instructor-led classroom, practical and virtual training programs.

Create engaging learning environments that drive knowledge retention and capability development.

Assess learner competency and provide coaching and technical guidance.

Support ongoing improvement of training content, assessments, and learning experiences.

Gather participant feedback and evaluate training effectiveness.

Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with Caterpillar dealers, customers, engineers, and technical specialists.

Support strategic capability development initiatives across the region.

Promote technical excellence and best practice service methodologies.

Represent Caterpillar's commitment to world-class customer support and technician development.

About You:

You are a technically capable professional who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others succeed.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Significant experience diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar engines, machines, power systems, or related equipment.

Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electronic systems.

Experience working with diesel engines, electronic controls, emissions systems, power train systems, or engine applications.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Strong customer focus and relationship-building capability.

Ability to explain complex technical concepts to a range of experience levels.

Willingness to travel throughout Australia and New Zealand, with occasional international travel.

Desirable Qualifications:

Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Plant Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related discipline.

Previous experience delivering technical training, mentoring, coaching, or workplace instruction.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. (not essential)

Experience working within the Caterpillar dealer network.

Advanced diagnostic and technical specialist certifications.
