Job summary

Hyve Managed Hosting is expanding and hiring a Technical Support Engineer for our Sydney team. The role focuses on deploying, administering and supporting Hyve's managed hosting and private-cloud infrastructure for Australian customers.

You will work with a global engineering team and gain exposure to VMware, OpenShift/Kubernetes, and enterprise networking, storage and security technologies while ensuring high availability and performance.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience administering Linux and Windows server environments in production.
• Demonstrated experience with virtualization (VMware, OpenShift/Kubernetes), enterprise networking, storage and security technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident-management and customer-service skills.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call / out-of-hours support roster.

Responsibilities

• Installing, configuring and maintaining Linux and Windows server operating systems across managed hosting and private-cloud environments.
• Administering and maintaining virtualisation and container platforms, including VMware and OpenShift, to ensure availability and performance.
• Deploying, managing and maintaining physical and virtual server infrastructure for enterprise customer environments.
• Monitoring system and platform performance, capacity and integrity, and proactively resolving faults to meet agreed service levels.
• Administering web, application and database platforms, including IIS, Apache, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Configuring and maintaining Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and related identity and messaging services.
• Configuring and maintaining load balancers, firewalls and web application security technologies to protect customer environments.
• Diagnosing and resolving network and connectivity issues, including TCP/IP, DNS and routing.
• Administering enterprise storage and compute resources, and managing backups, patching and system hardening.
• Performing root-cause analysis on incidents, documenting resolutions and contributing to post-incident reviews.
• Maintaining system documentation, knowledge-base articles and operational procedures.
• Participating in an on-call, out-of-hours support roster.
