Job summary

Microhire is seeking a Technical Director – Events to lead high-end live productions in Sydney's premier venues. You will drive preproduction, scope equipment and crew, and set the technical direction for multi-discipline shows.

Bring 5+ years as a Senior Technician or Technical Director, deep AV knowledge across audio, lighting, staging and vision, plus leadership and client-facing skills. CAD skills and licences are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in a Senior Technician or Technical Director role.
• Deep knowledge of professional AV technologies with operator-level expertise in at least two disciplines (audio, lighting, staging, vision).
• Proven ability to manage large-scale events, exhibitions, and complex technical projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

What You'll Do:

Lead the technical delivery of high-profile corporate events and productions

What You'll Bring:

5+ years' experience in a Senior Technician or Technical Director role

Deep knowledge of professional AV technologies, with operator-level expertise in at least two key disciplines

Proven ability to manage large-scale events, exhibitions, and complex technical projects

Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills

Advanced troubleshooting skills and confidence under pressure

Proficiency with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Visio)

IT and computing knowledge, including networking, PowerPoint/Keynote, and Adobe Creative Suite (desirable)

Familiarity with Rental Point software (highly regarded)

Current Australian Driver's Licence (manual) and EWP/BL Licence required

Additional certifications (rigging, white card, truck licence, test & tag, first aid) not required but highly regarded
