Job summary

Microhire is seeking a Technical Director – Events to lead high-end live productions in Sydney's premier venues. You will drive preproduction, scope equipment and crew, and set the technical direction for multi-discipline shows.

Bring 5+ years as a Senior Technician or Technical Director, deep AV knowledge across audio, lighting, staging and vision, plus leadership and client-facing skills. CAD skills and licences are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in a Senior Technician or Technical Director role.
• Deep knowledge of professional AV technologies with operator-level expertise in at least two disciplines (audio, lighting, staging, vision).
• Proven ability to manage large-scale events, exhibitions, and complex technical projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of high-profile corporate events and productions.
• Scope, design, and oversee AV solutions across audio, lighting, staging, and vision systems.
• Provide accurate equipment and labour specifications during preproduction.
• Operate as a senior technician in at least two disciplines.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources with precision.
• Liaise directly with clients and venue partners, providing expert advice and outstanding service.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire technical teams on-site.
• Ensure all events meet Microhire's high standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
