Job summary

Sydney Cigar House is seeking an analytical Systems Analyst to support development and improvement of its retail ICT systems across multiple locations. You will analyze POS, inventory, product database, internal management and e-commerce workflows to identify improvements.

Collaborate with management, staff and developers to translate business needs into technical specs, participate in testing, and ensure system integration and ongoing optimization across the business.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyse existing ICT systems across POS, inventory, product database and e-commerce to identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities.

• Design and document system solutions including workflows, interfaces, data flows and APIs.
• Maintain and improve product and inventory databases supporting SKUs and location-specific inventory.

Sydney Cigar House is seeking an analytical Systems Analyst to support the continued development, implementation and improvement of the company's retail ICT systems across its multi-location operations. The role will focus on the analysis and improvement of the company's POS, inventory, product database, internal management and e-commerce systems. Working closely with management, retail staff, inventory personnel, developers and external technology providers, the Systems Analyst will analyse existing systems and business processes, identify operational requirements and translate business needs into practical technology solutions. The successful candidate will contribute throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, functional and technical specification, solution design, system development and integration, testing, implementation, documentation and ongoing system improvement.

Key responsibilities

Analyse the company's existing business processes and ICT systems, including POS, inventory, product database, internal management, website and e-commerce systems, to identify functional limitations, system deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

Consult with management, retail staff and inventory personnel to gather, analyse and document business and system requirements, and translate operational needs into clear functional and technical specifications.

Analyse retail workflows and recommend system and process improvements relating to product management, inventory control, stock movements, stocktakes, transfers, pricing, daily settlement, reporting and other retail operations.

Design and document system solutions, including workflows, database structures, system interfaces, data flows, APIs and user-interface requirements based on identified business and operational requirements.

Maintain and improve product and inventory database structures supporting specialised product information, SKU management, different product and packaging variants and location-specific inventory.

Design, develop and enhance backend functionality supporting product and SKU management, inventory, stock movements, stocktakes, transfers, customer management, pricing, settlement and reporting functions.

Design, develop and enhance internal management and POS interfaces used by retail staff, managers and administrators, including product lookup, inventory lookup, pricing, stock management, daily settlement and operational checklists.

Analyse and improve ICT functionality supporting multiple retail locations, including centralised product and pricing information, location‑specific inventory records, stock visibility and transfers between locations.

Develop and implement system test plans, testing procedures and acceptance criteria for new and modified system functionality, and conduct functional, integration and User Acceptance Testing before system changes are released into business operations.

Diagnose and resolve system and application issues relating to product and SKU retrieval, inventory allocation, transaction processing, system integration, data synchronisation and other business‑critical functionality.

About you

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Professional experience in Systems Analysis, ICT Business Analysis or another closely related professional ICT role.

Strong experience analysing business processes and existing ICT systems.

Experience gathering, analysing and documenting business, functional and system requirements.

Experience preparing functional and technical specifications, system workflows and process documentation.

Experience working with databases, POS systems, inventory management systems, internal business systems or e-commerce platforms.

Experience with software development, system integration and API‑based functionality.

Experience conducting functional, integration and User Acceptance Testing.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with management, operational users, developers and external technology providers.
