Job summary

Nixil Pty is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer for a Defence project in Australia. The role focuses on requirements management, system safety, integration, verification, and certification, aligned with Australian and international standards.

You will guide the project from planning and design reviews through testing and delivery, ensuring Defence requirements are met and that all documentation and contract deliverables are completed to a high standard.

Apply your systems engineering expertise to a Defence project spanning requirements, system safety, integration, verification and certification.

You’ll help guide the project from engineering planning and design review through to testing and delivery, working within Defence requirements and relevant Australian and international standards.

What you’ll do

• Develop and manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain the Systems Engineering Management Plan and Technical Certification Plan.
• Lead system safety activities, including hazard analysis and reporting.
• Review designs, implementation, verification and validation (V&V) documentation, and contract deliverables.
• Support integration engineering, test and evaluation, technical performance measures, and certification.
• Plan and deliver engineering activities with attention to regulatory compliance, resources and project outcomes.

What you’ll bring

• Professional engineering qualifications relevant to the role, supported by a higher degree or more than eight years of relevant industry experience.
• Extensive systems and software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated experience producing requirements, V&V plans and procedures, design documents, specialist engineering reports, hazard analyses, certification material, and contract documentation.
• The ability to apply industry best practice and work to relevant Australian and international standards and Defence requirements.

Highly desirable: Defence experience; electrical engineering and systems integration experience, particularly on maritime platforms; RF and wireless communications experience in contested or electronic warfare environments; digital communications protocols and signal conversion; process improvement; and experience with ITAR requirements and US Export Controls, including Technical Assistance Agreements and Third-Party Retransfer authorisations.
