Job summary

Nixil Pty in Canberra is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS). You will join the CJC10 engineering team, provide technical advice, maintain documentation and help manage risks and deliverables for sustaining and improving this capability.

You will develop and maintain the CJC10 engineering documentation suite, review contracts, and provide engineering feedback to implement the DHFCS capability.

Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Engineer status or ability to attain it.
• A tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ODCS.
• Experience with ASDEFCON.
• Leadership or management experience; coach teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
• NV1 Security Clearance required for this role.

Working within the CJC10 engineering team, you will provide technical advice, maintain engineering documentation and help manage the risks and deliverables involved in sustaining and improving this capability.

What you’ll do

What you’ll bring

• Chartered Professional Engineer status with a recognised professional engineering body, or the ability to attain it.
• A tertiary qualification in Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of and experience with the One Defence Capability System (ODCS).
• Experience with the ASDEFCON suite.
• Leadership or management experience, including the ability to coach teams through strategy and change.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across Defence, industry and multidisciplinary teams.
• NV1 Security Clearance required for this role.

Experience delivering Defence capability projects, particularly within a Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) environment, would be highly regarded.

An understanding of the technical, logistical and operational requirements of capability delivery, along with relevant Defence policy, would also be valuable.
