Job summary

People First Nursing is seeking empathetic, reliable aged care and disability support workers who hold a Certificate III or IV (or are currently studying nursing) to provide in-home, person-centred care in Canberra. We value dignity, compassion, and professional conduct in every visit.

Successful candidates will follow care plans, support daily living activities, assist with mobility, meals, dementia care, and maintain accurate documentation while working within a nurse-led, client-focused model.

Qualifications

• Cert III or IV in Aged Care, Disability, or Individual Support (or studying nursing).
• First Aid and CPR.
• Current Manual Handling.
• WWVP.
• Must have workers screening ID.
• Medication training for cert 4.
• Strong understanding of person-centred care principles.
• Experience in home care and/or dementia support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in clients' homes and in our SIL.
• Support clients with daily living activities including personal care, mobility, and meal preparation.
• Provide compassionate care for individuals living with dementia and complex needs.
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.
• Observe, document, and report changes in client condition to the nursing team.
• Follow care plans and work collaboratively within a nurse-led model.
• Build trusting relationships with clients and their families.
• Maintain professional standards, confidentiality, and compliance with policies and procedures.

About the Candidate

• Experience in home care and/or dementia support (preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think critically and respond to changing client needs
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
• Commitment to high standards of care and professionalism
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between clients
