Job summary

Primary Connect is seeking a senior leader to shape end-to-end network strategies across DC design, automation, property and transport. You’ll craft high‑quality business cases and enable commercial growth through cross‑functional collaboration with Merchandising, Finance and Legal.

You’ll lead large-scale infrastructure projects, drive process improvements and ensure benefits delivery across a national distribution network.

Qualifications

  • Extensive proven success in supply chain, logistics, or network infrastructure with large-scale transformation experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, business case development, and data-driven storytelling to influence senior decisions.
  • Deep understanding of DC design, DC automation equipment, IT systems, and property development in large-scale retail or FMCG.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development of network strategies and solutions across DC design, automation, property and transport.
  • Create high-quality business cases and board submissions with budget scope and risk mitigation for exec approval.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising and Replenishment to identify opportunities enabling growth.
  • Drive process optimisation and innovation to boost distribution centre productivity and network efficiency.
  • Partner with Legal, Procurement, and Finance to ensure infra projects meet assurance frameworks and deliver benefits.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the end-to-end development of network strategies and solutions, integrating inputs from DC design, automation, property, and transport to ensure a cohesive infrastructure roadmap.
  • Execute the creation of high-quality business cases and board submissions, detailing budget scope, cost-benefit analysis, and risk mitigation strategies for senior executive approval.
  • Collaborate with Merchandise and Replenishment teams to identify business opportunities and determine how current or future supply chain capabilities can enable commercial growth.
  • Drive process optimisation initiatives and innovation to enhance the productivity of distribution centre operations and overall network efficiency.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders in Legal, Procurement, and Finance to ensure all infrastructure projects comply with assurance frameworks and deliver intended benefits.
What you’ll bring
  • Extensive proven success in supply chain, logistics, or network infrastructure, with a track record of leading large-scale transformation projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, business case development, and data-driven storytelling to influence senior stakeholder decisions.
  • A deep understanding of DC design, DC automation equipment, IT systems, and property development requirements within a large-scale retail or FMCG environment.
  • Exceptional ability to negotiate and influence at the executive level, maintaining alignment across diverse internal functions and external consultants.
  • Strong data analytical knowledge with the ability to focus on granular details while maintaining a clear view of the "big picture" strategic objectives.
  • A degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics is highly regarded, complemented by project management or postgraduate qualifications.
