Job summary

CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut is seeking a hands-on Workshop Supervisor to lead our Afternoon Shift Workshop Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong people leader who enjoys coordinating workflow, supporting technicians, improving productivity and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

You’ll take responsibility for day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring work is allocated efficiently, targets are met, and technicians have the support they need to succeed.

Qualifications

• Heavy vehicle trade qualification required.
• Experience supervising workshop teams or leading hands.
• Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle parts and servicing.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Current Driver's Licence; Heavy Vehicle Licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and dispatch repair orders to technicians.
• Monitor workflow and job progress to meet targets.
• Ensure quality and timely completion of repairs.
• Support technicians with diagnostics and complex repairs.
• Lead, coach and develop technicians and apprentices.
• Maintain safety, SOPs and high standards of service.

CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut is seeking a hands-on Workshop Supervisor to lead our Afternoon Shift Workshop Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong people leader who enjoys coordinating workflow, supporting technicians, improving productivity and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

This is an Afternoon Shift role and applicants must be available and committed to working afternoon shift hours on an ongoing basis.

About the Role

As Workshop Supervisor, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring work is allocated efficiently, productivity targets are achieved, repairs are completed to a high standard, and technicians have the support they need to succeed.

You’ll be a key leader within the Service Department and play an important role in driving safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

Workshop Operations

• Allocate and dispatch repair orders to technicians
• Monitor workflow and job progress
• Ensure jobs are completed efficiently and on time
• Conduct quality control inspections
• Assist technicians with complex diagnostics and repairs
• Plan workshop capacity and resources
• Manage workshop productivity and efficiency
• Identify and reduce repeat repair issues
• Lead, coach and support Technicians, Leading Hands and Trades Assistants
• Foster a positive and productive team culture
• Support apprenticeship development and on-the-job training
• Maintain clear communication between workshop staff and service advisors
• Assist in achieving workshop performance targets
• Ensure customers receive outstanding service
• Manage repair progress and customer commitments
• Liaise with Service Advisors, Parts and Sales teams
• Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
• Champion CMV's Safety First culture
• Promote and maintain WHS standards
• Ensure SOPs remain current and followed
• Maintain workshop security and safe work practices
• Report incidents, hazards and near misses promptly

To be successful, you’ll bring:

• Heavy Vehicle or Automotive Trade Qualification
• Previous workshop supervisory, leading hand or leadership experience
• Strong heavy vehicle industry knowledge
• Sound diagnostic and technical skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Current Driver's Licence
• Heavy Vehicle Licence (advantageous)
