Job summary

Lindsay Australia is seeking a Workshop Supervisor to lead the Derrimut workshop, overseeing maintenance, repairs and a team of skilled technicians while ensuring fleet safety and reliability.

You will plan preventive maintenance, supervise diagnostics, and mentor staff to uphold high standards of safety and performance across a varied fleet of vehicles.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification and trade certification.
• Experience leading workshop or maintenance teams.
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship.
• HR and forklift licences highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair across fleet vehicles.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Plan and allocate daily tasks to technicians.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory.

The Opportunity

Based at Lindsay Transport's Derrimut workshop in Melbourne, the Workshop Supervisor will lead day-to-day maintenance operations, oversee repairs, mentor a team of skilled technicians, and ensure our fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance. Day Shift: Commencing at 5:00am

Afternoon Shift: Commencing at 1:00pm

What You’ll Do

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced mechanic or workshop leader looking to take the next step in their career. You'll play a key role in maintaining fleet reliability, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring the workshop operates safely and efficiently Supervise the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair across a variety of fleet vehicles (prime movers, rigids, trailers). Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system faults. Plan, prioritize, and allocate daily tasks to mechanics and service technicians. Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and inventory of spare parts. Ensure accurate completion of maintenance and repair documentation Lead, mentor, and supervise workshop employees. Demonstrating safe work practices, leading by example and promoting a safe work culture.
