Job description

Superstar Childcare Traineeship | Learn, Earn & Grow

Superstar Childcare Traineeship | Learn, Earn & Grow
No experience in childcare? That's completely fine!

Maybe you've just finished school, you're looking for a career change, or you've always thought about working with children but haven't known where to start.

Whatever your background, we'd love to hear from you!

At QCE Child Care, we're looking for our next superstar to join our team in Mittagong and kick-start their career in early childhood education.

And the best part? You don't need any childcare experience or qualifications to get started.

We're looking for someone with a great attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in working with children. We'll provide the training, mentoring and support to help you become a confident and qualified educator.

So, what's the job actually like?

You’ll be working alongside our experienced educators, getting involved in all the little (and big!) moments that make working in childcare so rewarding.

One minute you might be helping with a painting activity, the next you're reading stories, playing outside, supporting daily routines or celebrating a child's latest achievement.

No two days are quite the same, and there's definitely never a dull moment!

Along the way, you'll be completing your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, gaining practical experience while earning an income.

You’ll be involved in things like:

  • Supporting children's learning through play and everyday experiences.

  • Helping with activities, creative experiences and outdoor play.

  • Building positive relationships with children, families and fellow educators.

  • Assisting with daily routines, including meals, rest times and supervision.

  • Learning how to create safe, engaging and welcoming environments.

  • Developing your skills and knowledge as you work towards your qualification.

Who would fit in well at QCE?

We're not looking for someone who knows everything about childcare already. That's what the traineeship is for!

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a positive attitude – someone who brings good energy to the team and enjoys being around others.

  • Is reliable – someone who shows up on time, takes their responsibilities seriously and can be counted on.

  • Communicates well – someone who isn't afraid to ask questions, share ideas and work as part of a team.

  • Wants to learn – someone who's open to feedback, willing to give things a go and keen to develop new skills.

  • Genuinely enjoys working with children – someone who understands the importance of helping little people learn, grow and feel supported.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to be here, wants to learn and is excited about building a career in early childhood education.

Why join the QCE team?

We're a privately owned early childhood service in the Southern Highlands, and we're proud of the team and environment we've built.

We believe in supporting our educators, encouraging professional growth and making sure everyone feels like a valued part of the team.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Earn while you learn – work full-time while completing your nationally recognised Certificate III.

  • Support every step of the way – learn alongside experienced educators who genuinely want to see you succeed.

  • Career progression – we encourage our Certificate III educators to continue their education and progress towards their Diploma and beyond.

  • A supportive team – we're big on communication, teamwork and helping each other out.

  • Organised systems and strong leadership – you'll have the guidance and structure to help you succeed.

  • No take-home work – when your workday is finished, it's finished!

  • A rewarding career – make a real difference in children's lives while building skills for your future.

At QCE, our purpose is simple: Quality Care and Education.

Our team is guided by five core values: Honesty & Trust, Effective Communication, Professionalism, Teamwork and Safe Learning Environments.

These aren't just words on a wall. They're what we look for in the people who join our team.

A few important things to know

This is a full-time traineeship, so there are a few requirements:

  • You must be available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, across our operating hours of 7:00am–6:00pm.

  • You must have full Australian working rights without requiring current or future visa sponsorship.

  • You must be willing and eligible to obtain a Working With Children Check.

  • You must be willing to obtain the required First Aid qualifications.

  • You must be committed to completing your Certificate III traineeship, which generally takes around 18 months.

We're looking for someone who sees this as the beginning of a career, rather than just a short-term job.
