Job summary

Powercor is seeking an experienced Substation Electrician to join our Bendigo depot, delivering frontline maintenance, installation and upgrades of electrical plant infrastructure within Zone and Distribution Substations.

You'll work in a field-based technical team, apply safe work practices, perform testing, fault investigation and timely service delivery, and collaborate with customers and peers to maintain a reliable electricity supply for our Victorian networks.

Qualifications

• Detailed practical knowledge of HV distribution assets and safety requirements.
• Ability to install, test and maintain metering/communications equipment.
• Strong teamwork and clear communication with customers and peers.
• Familiarity with CPAL data transfer workflows for field data.
• Commitment to safe working practices and WHS standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, fault-find and repair primary/secondary station equipment.
• Test electrical assets; interpret results and write maintenance reports.
• Diagnose faults and apply repairs in substation environments.
• Use test gear (megger, meter, voltmeter) and specialised testers for cables.
• Perform metal fabrication and earth grid work; welding and bonding as required.
• Test and treat oil in substations; install/modify wiring per standards.
• Operate plant including cranes, EPV, forklift and other equipment safely.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety procedures and standards.
