Powercor is hiring multiple Substation Electricians for our Burnley depot in Melbourne. The role covers maintenance, installation and enhancement of electrical plant infrastructure, delivering safe, reliable power and high customer satisfaction.

You’ll work frontline on substations, meet performance standards and apply planning and assessment to execute tasks. We value teamwork, deep HV knowledge, and the ability to test, diagnose and repair equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety and

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of High Voltage electricity distribution network assets.
• Practical knowledge of metering and communications installation, testing and maintenance techniques.
• Proven ability to work in a team and communicate with customers and colleagues.
• Use current data transfer systems for field-based information collection/receiving.
• Commitment to safe working environment and procedures.

Responsabilités

• Install, maintain, fault find and repair primary/secondary station equipment like transformers and switchgear.
• Conduct electrical asset testing, interpret results and write maintenance reports.
• Diagnose faults and apply repairs in substation environments.
• Familiar with test equipment: megger, multimeter, voltmeter; and specialised tools.
• Carry out metal fabrication and earth grid bonding using oxy/LPG processes.
• Test and treat oil in substations’ equipment.
• Install, maintain and modify electrical wiring in buildings per standards.
• Operate plant such as crane, EPV, forklift, vehicles, hydraulic tools and generators.
• Ensure activities follow safe practices, WHS regulations and standards.
