Job summary

CitiPower and Powercor is hiring Substation Electricians for our Burnley depot in Melbourne. The role focuses on frontline tasks including maintenance, installation, and enhancement of electrical plant infrastructure, ensuring reliability of the distribution network and high customer satisfaction.

You will work within a skilled team to plan, assess, and execute field-based tasks with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of High Voltage distribution assets.
• Practical knowledge of metering and communications installation, testing and maintenance.
• Proven ability to work in a team and communicate with customers and colleagues.
• Familiar with data transfer systems for field information.
• Commitment to safe working practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, fault find and repair primary and secondary station equipment (transformers, switchgear, control wiring).
• Conduct electrical asset testing and write maintenance reports.
• Diagnose faults and apply repairs in substation environments.
• Use test equipment (megger, meters, specialized tools) for testing and inspection.
• Carry out earth grid bonding and basic metal fabrication.
• Test and treat oil in substations’ equipment.
• Install and modify electrical wiring in buildings per Australian standards.
• Operate plant and heavy equipment used in substation work.
• Ensure work complies with WHS requirements and industry standards.
