Job summary

AFTRS in Sydney is seeking an experienced Studio Supervisor to lead safe Grip and Lighting operations across studios and sets. Reporting to the Head of Production Operations, you will oversee bookings, crew scheduling, maintenance and stock takes, while delivering high-quality support to students and staff.

The role requires WHS focus, budget awareness and the ability to supervise a small team in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial production experience in film/TV environments.
• Experience managing and operating Grip and Lighting equipment.
• Strong knowledge of WHS and safety practices.
• Experience supervising a small team with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Strong communication and collaborative approach.
• Experience using resource management and budgeting tools.
• Experience fostering safe and inclusive work environments.

Responsibilities

• WHS: ensure safety processes in studios and sets and SWMS updates.
• Provide Grip and Lighting instruction, advice and support to students and staff.
• Oversee equipment bookings, crew scheduling and maintenance with stakeholders.
• Resolve booking conflicts and day-to-day issues for courses and programs.
• Forecast budget needs and advise on CAPEX/OPEX purchases where needed.
• Attend and contribute to pre-delivery, feasibility and final production meetings.
• Assist in setup and operation of Grip and Lighting equipment as required.
• Maintain clean, safe studios in partnership with facilities.
