Job summary

Alexandra Secondary College seeks a Student Wellbeing Coordinator to triage and oversee student wellbeing needs, reporting to the Wellbeing Leading Teacher. This full‑time role supports welfare across the school during normal hours.

The position requires coordinating the welfare team, liaising with external agencies, and organizing Student Support Group meetings to implement targeted strategies for students at risk.

Qualifications

• Ability to use data to inform decision making.
• Ability to condense information from students, parents, teachers and outside agencies into useful reports such as Individual Support Plans.
• Ability to plan, organise and chair meetings, such as student support group meetings with stakeholders to deliver focussed goals with strategies.
• Knowledge of the impact of issues related to mental health and neurodiversity on learning and attendance.
• Ability to build strong relationships, communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, mental health professionals, school leadership and other outside agencies.
• Awareness of mandatory reporting requirements and ethical issues related to working in schools.

Responsibilities

• Work in close collaboration with welfare team to share information and plan support and events.
• Triage support for students, overseeing allocation of students to welfare team members and purchased supports.
• Manage appointments and communication with Doctors in school program.
• Refer students to external agencies (e.g., CAMHS, Headspace) and liaise with them.
• Assist with exchange of information between external agencies and the school.
• Arrange assessments of students to ascertain needed support.
• Provide counselling.
• Manage disclosures and mandatory reporting procedures.
• Attend, organise and chair Student Support Group meetings with Year Level Coordinators and staff.
• Attend SEAM meetings to understand wellbeing issues and at-risk students.
• Provide strategies to meet learning needs of individual students.
• Support mediation of student conflicts and coordinate special programs.
• Disseminate wellbeing information to staff and coordinate ASC student data for teachers.
• Organise wellbeing programs for whole school and smaller groups.
• Follow up on whole-school wellbeing initiatives.
