Job summary

Robert Bird Group in Melbourne seeks an Experienced Structural Engineer to join our Construction Engineering team. You will work at the interface between design and construction on major projects, delivering specialist staged analyses and temporary works design.

You will collaborate with contractors and delivery teams, apply Australian codes, and contribute to innovative, safe, and efficient structures across commercial, residential, health and mixed-use developments.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification focused on Structural Engineering
• 4+ years in structural engineering
• Experience in temporary works design is preferred
• Experience in transport, energy, industrial or civil infra projects
• Strong understanding of Australian codes and standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience delivering detailed engineering drawings
• Solid grounding in steel and concrete design
• Project management and hands-on experience across admin, commercial and technical aspects
• Able to work on own initiative and in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Detailed structural design of innovative temporary works and impacts on permanent works
• Detailed structural design and documentation from tender through construction
• Client liaison with Project Directors and Associates
• Active involvement in project resources with Project Directors
• Deliver projects while upholding the firm’s reputation for innovation and quality
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to maintain quality and coordination
