Job summary

CommBank is seeking an Operational Risk Manager to support the Group Support Units, embedding ORMF and providing independent Line 2 review across risk activities. You will coordinate with Line 1 and other risk teams to ensure robust risk oversight and effective risk governance.

You will monitor risks, deliver insights, challenge stakeholders, and drive improvements in controls and risk management practices across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational risk management within banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks, tools and methodologies.
• Experience conducting risk monitoring, assurance and control testing.
• Understanding of business processes and internal controls within highly regulated environments.
• Sound analytical capability to interpret data, identify trends and risks.
• Proactive, self-motivated with accountability and outcome delivery.
• Strong written and verbal communication tailored to different audiences.
• Collaborative and outcomes-focused with stakeholder aim.

Responsibilities

• Support operational risk management activities such as assessment of risks, controls, issues and incidents, linking insights to key business initiatives.
• Provide a wider view of how risk activities support business strategy and decisions.
• Apply industry knowledge to identify and pursue meaningful risk activity.
• Perform deep-dives and reviews to provide independent Line 2 opinions on risk management.
• Report on risk exposures for Non-Financial Risk Committees or other risk reporting.
• Build strong working relationships with Group Support Units, Line 1 risk and business stakeholders.
