Job summary

Boab Metals Limited is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to lead long-term and medium-term mine planning for the Sorby Hills project in Western Australia. You will develop, optimise and maintain life-of-mine schedules, balancing value with safety and environment while aligning with geology, operations and leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mining Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in mine planning within open pit mining operations.
• Expertise in life-of-mine planning or medium-term optimisation and production scheduling.
• Strong proficiency in mining planning software.
• Experience conducting mining studies, optimisation work, and economic evaluations.
• Understanding of mine design principles, scheduling methodologies, and operational constraints.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Financial and commercial awareness with value optimisation mindset.
• Excellent communication and ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• A collaborative approach and ability to build cross-disciplinary relationships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain life-of-mine plans, medium-term schedules and strategic production forecasts.
• Optimise pit designs, mining phases, cut-off strategies and production sequences.
• Conduct trade-off studies and scenario analyses to support decision-making.
• Evaluate planning opportunities that improve economics, productivity, and resource recovery.
• Maintain planning models using current operational, geological and economic assumptions.
• Collaborate with geology teams to support reserve growth and mine design updates.
• Support annual budget development and long-term business planning.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
• Analyse operational performance and refine planning assumptions for future periods.
• Support studies related to mine expansion and infrastructure.
