Job summary

Boab Metals Limited seeks a Technical Services Manager to lead the technical functions supporting the Sorby Hills Project. You will oversee mine planning, geology, survey, drill and blast, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective performance on a site-based leadership role.

The role reports to the General Manager Operations and collaborates with operations, engineering and projects teams. A tertiary qualification in mining-related field and open pit experience are essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement to enhance productivity, efficiency and cost.
• Provide technical guidance to operations, engineering and project teams.
• Monitor performance against budget and KPIs.
• Manage reconciliation and reporting of production and resources.
• Support life-of-mine planning and strategic development.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental and safety requirements.

Job description

Boab Metals Limited is progressing the development of the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 km northeast of Kununurra in the East Kimberley. Sorby Hills is Australia's largest undeveloped near-surface lead-silver deposit, supported by granted mining leases, EPA approval, and proximity to established infrastructure, including Wyndham Port only 150 km away. With permitting and infrastructure already in place, Sorby Hills is uniquely positioned for fast-track production. Alongside Sorby Hills, Boab is actively exploring its 100%-owned Manbarrum and Eight Mile Creek prospects, strengthening our growth pipeline across the region.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager to lead the technical functions supporting the development and operation of the Sorby Hills Project. Reporting to the General Manager Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing mine planning, geology, survey, drill and blast, and technical projects to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective mine performance. This is a site-based leadership role offering the opportunity to contribute to a significant mining project within a collaborative and safety-focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site's Technical Services team, including mine planning, geology, survey, and drill & blast functions.
• Develop and oversee short, medium and long-term mine plans to support operational objectives.
• Ensure accurate resource utilization, mine design and production forecasting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mine productivity, efficiency and cost performance.
• Provide technical guidance and support to operations, engineering and project teams.
• Monitor mine performance against budget, plan and key operational metrics.
• Manage reconciliation processes and reporting to ensure accuracy of production and resource outcomes.
• Support life-of-mine planning and strategic project development activities.
• Ensure all technical activities comply with statutory, environmental and safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in technical services leadership within the mining industry.
• Strong background in open pit mining operations and mine planning.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Proficiency with industry software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, MineSched or similar.
• Strong understanding of mine planning, geology, reconciliation and reporting processes.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
