Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a Senior Development Planner to guide the development process and provide expert advice to Planning Managers and the Director of Planning. You will manage development applications, produce robust reports, and ensure compliance with legislation.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, and may act as an expert witness in court. The role includes rotating through teams and may assume Team Leader responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or related field.
• Extensive local government planning experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.

Responsibilities

• Guide the development process for the Sutherland Shire Council and advise Planning Managers and the Director.
• Manage development applications from initiation to completion and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Produce comprehensive reports for planning panels and committees to communicate assessments clearly.
• Liaise with stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, and act as an expert witness in legal proceedings when required.
• Rotate through teams to support the development services unit and lead as Team Leader when needed.
