Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a Senior Development Planner to guide the development process and provide expert planning advice to the Planning Managers and Director of Planning. You will manage development applications from initiation to completion, coordinating with multiple stakeholders and producing high-quality reports for planning panels.

You will liaise with stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, and may act as an expert witness in legal proceedings.

Qualifications

• Strong background in urban planning and handling complex development applications.
• Excellent project management skills and stakeholder engagement.
• Thorough understanding of relevant planning legislation and processes.

Responsibilities

• Guide the development process and provide expert advice to Planning Managers and the Director of Planning.
• Lead the management of development applications from initiation to completion, coordinating with stakeholders.
• Produce comprehensive reports for planning panels and committees to facilitate clear communication of assessments.
• Liaise with stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, and act as an expert witness in legal proceedings when necessary.
• Rotate through teams to support the development services unit and, when required, act as Team Leader.
