Job summary

CommBank is seeking a senior Lead AI and Technology Compliance to provide Line 2 oversight for the Group's use of AI and related technology. You will translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance and influence responsible AI adoption across the bank.

You will lead a team of compliance professionals, partner with Technology, Data, Legal, Privacy, Risk and business units, monitor regulatory developments, and report on material exposures and trends to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior-level Compliance experience within banking or regulated environments.
• Knowledge of AI, AI tooling, and regulatory implications of AI-enabled solutions.
• Experience performing risk assessments for AI/digital initiatives and translating risks into governance actions.
• Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, obligations management, regulatory change, issues and incidents.
• Ability to translate complex technology concepts for technical, business and regulatory stakeholders.
• Proven track record leading high-performing compliance, risk, legal or control teams.
• Strong judgement to work credibly with senior executives while maintaining Line 2 oversight.
• Tertiary qualification in law, risk, finance, business or related discipline; professional accreditations valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Line 2 compliance advice for AI matters and related tools.
• Provide guidance on AI governance, policies, standards and controls.
• Partner with Technology, Data, AI, Legal, Privacy, Risk, Model Risk, Cyber and business teams to assess AI risks.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to AI and emerging tech; enable regulatory change.
• Represent Compliance in regulator engagement and oversee issues, incidents and remediation.
• Lead governance reporting and executive insights on exposures and trends.
• Guide risk-based monitoring and reviews, including group-wide AI reviews.
• Build and retain a high-performing compliance team and foster learning.
