Job summary

InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef on Hayman Island, Whitsundays, Queensland, is seeking a Steward Attendant for a permanent, full-time role. You will maintain hygiene across chinaware, flatware, and glassware while supporting dining outlets and assisting the kitchen during busy service periods.

The role requires flexibility to cover night, weekend and holiday shifts in a luxury tropical resort environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure chinaware, flatware, silverware, glassware and kitchen equipment are cleaned and stored per policy.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock levels in food and beverage outlets during and after service.
• Assist the kitchen when required to support smooth service.

Your day-to-day The steward attendant’s role is to ensure that all chinaware, flatware, silverware and glassware and kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned whilst maintaining correct procedures in line with InterContinental Hayman Island Hotels policies & procedures. The role will also ensure food and beverage outlets are cleaned, maintained and stocked during and after allocated dining times, as well as assisting the kitchen when required.

What we need from you

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Communication skills and problem-solving skills
• Organisational skills – you will be able to prioritise and meet deadlines to ensure that all tasks are completed as required
• Flexibility as night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job
• Strength - sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg).

• The base hourly rate for this position is $26.51 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night, weekends and public holidays.
