We are seeking an experienced and driven State Sales Manager to lead our sales operations across South Australia. This is a full-time position based in Tonsley, SA, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of our regional business whilst managing a high-performing sales team. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategy, driving revenue growth, and building strong customer relationships across the state. This role is pivotal in achieving our growth targets and establishing Phoenix Contact as the preferred electrical connection and automation solutions provider in South Australia.
Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve and exceed state revenue targets and market share objectives
Lead, motivate and manage the sales team, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management to drive results and professional development
Identify new business opportunities and oversee the pursuit of strategic accounts and key customer relationships across the region
Manage the sales pipeline, monitor forecasting accuracy and implement corrective actions to ensure consistent performance
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors and business partners to enhance customer satisfaction and retention
Collaborate with product management, marketing and operations teams to align sales efforts with company objectives and launch new products effectively
Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities for growth and market positioning
Monitor sales metrics, prepare regular performance reports and present insights to senior management
Represent Phoenix Contact at industry events, trade shows and customer meetings to build brand presence and credibility
Ensure compliance with company policies, sales processes and customer service standards across all sales activities
Proven track record of at least 5-7 years in sales management or senior sales roles, ideally within the electrical, industrial or manufacturing sectors
Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies that drive revenue growth and market expansion
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing sales teams
Excellent understanding of the South Australian market, existing customer relationships and market dynamics (preferred)
Exceptional communication, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels
Proven ability to manage complex sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of P&L management and financial targets
Strategic thinking combined with the ability to deliver tactical results and drive operational excellence
Customer-focused mindset with a genuine commitment to building long-term business relationships
Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools
Valid Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel within South Australia as required
