Job summary

Austek Roads (ACT) is seeking a casual Spray Seal Labourer to join our team in Hume, ACT. This role supports bitumen spray sealing operations and related roadworks, working closely with the crew to deliver quality results.

You will perform preparation tasks, assist with equipment handling, load/unload materials, and help maintain a safe and tidy worksite, following directions from site leaders and upholding our safety standards.

Qualifications

• Current driver's licence and ability to obtain necessary construction certifications.
• White card.
• Silica and Asbestos awareness training.
• Demonstrated experience in roadworks (desirable).
• Proficient in bitumen spraying equipment operation and maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to achieve quality results.
• Good communication and teamwork within a construction crew.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and completion of bitumen spray sealing operations.
• Assist with shovelling, raking, wheelbarrow work and safe vehicle loading/unloading.
• Set out and retrieve traffic control signs, cones and equipment as required.
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment and work areas.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment.
• Support the spray truck and aggregate spreading crews.
• Follow directions from crew leader, foreperson, project manager and senior staff.
• Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.

• Safe labouring duties may include but not limited to shovelling and raking, running wheelbarrow, safely positioning and unloading trucks for spray seal operations
• Set out and retrieve traffic control signs, cones, and equipment as required.
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment
• Support the spray truck and aggregate spreading crews.
• Follow direction of Crew leader, site foreperson, project manager and other senior managers
• Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
