Job summary

Calvary Health Care Kogarah is seeking a Level 3 Social Worker with extensive palliative care experience to lead clinical social work services across Palliative Care and MND. You will supervise, guide, and mentor staff while driving education and service improvement.

You will engage with a multidisciplinary team, contribute to student placements, and uphold Calvary, NSW Health, and SESLHD standards in patient care. NSW registration and clearances are required.

About the role

Plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Palliative Care in order to provide high quality Social Work care to patients across Palliative Care and the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Service at Calvary Health Care Kogarah consistent with Calvary, NSW Health, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards. This role includes responsibilities for supervision, quality improvement initiatives, education delivery to other health care professionals and the teaching of students on clinical placement.

About you

• Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Professional and Associated Staff Agreement 2022, eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning.
• Extensive post graduate Social Work clinical experience in a Palliative Care or progressive neurological condition caseload
• Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
• Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education and support to others in providing service excellence.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
• Demonstrated active participation in developing, implementing, and reporting on services.
• Ability to work within the Mission and Values of Calvary Health Care Kogarah.
• A current drivers’ licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position) and eligible for Working with Children Check (WWCC), National Criminal Record Check (NCRC) and Aged Care Banning Order Check
