Job summary

Victorian Managed Insurance Authority in Melbourne is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to help build and operate our Snowflake data warehouse. You will write clean Python and SQL, implement IaC for databases, and collaborate with the Data and Analytics team under mentoring.

This 9-month contract offers hands-on engineering experience, exposure to secure data infrastructure, and opportunities to develop deployment patterns and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python, SQL and Snowflake in data warehouse projects.
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as Pulumi or Terraform.
• Familiarity with YAML and JSON configurations.

Responsibilities

• Create Snowflake databases, schemas, warehouses, tables and procedures via IaC.
• Write Python and SQL to support deployment scripts and data ingestion.
• Design repeatable deployment patterns across environments.
• Implement role-based access controls and security policies.
• Develop and maintain deployment documentation and tests.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions.
• Use Git and code review practices.
• Configure monitoring and cost controls for data platform.
• Collaborate with Data and Analytics team for warehouse build.
