Seek.com.au is seeking a Shipping & Purchasing Coordinator to join our busy import operation in Ormeau, QLD. The role focuses on raising purchase orders, liaising with overseas suppliers, and coordinating container imports with freight forwarders and customs agents.
The candidate will manage orders through to delivery, maintain records, and ensure accuracy across documentation. The position offers a stable, full-time role with clear progression in a dynamic logistics environment.
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30am-5pm, Friday 8:30am - 4pm
Location: Ormeau, QLD
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
We are looking for an organised and proactive Shipping & Purchasing Coordinator to join our busy import operation. Our business imports approximately 1,000 containers each year, so this is a key role requiring excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple orders and shipments simultaneously.
Raise and manage purchase orders for products.
Liaise regularly with overseas suppliers regarding pricing, production and delivery schedules.
Coordinate approximately 1,000 container imports per year.
Monitor orders from placement through to final delivery.
Book shipments and work closely with freight forwarders, shipping lines and customs agents.
Maintain accurate shipping, purchasing and product records.
Check commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and other import documentation.
Track containers and proactively manage delays or supply issues.
Keep internal teams informed of order and delivery dates.
Check supplier invoices and investigate discrepancies.
Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and logistics partners.
Support stock planning and ensure products are ordered in line with business requirements.
You will be highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You should be confident communicating with suppliers and logistics partners and capable of managing a large number of orders and shipments at different stages.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in shipping, imports, purchasing, logistics or supply-chain coordination.
Experience managing containerised imports.
Strong administration and organisational skills.
Good attention to detail and the ability to prioritise.
Confidence using Microsoft Excel and order-management or ERP systems.
The ability to identify problems early and follow them through to resolution.
Knowledge of import documentation and customs procedures would be an advantage.
A stable, full-time position within an established and busy importing business.
Working hours of 8:30am-5pm, Monday to Thursday and 8:30am - 4pm Friday.
A varied role with responsibility across both purchasing and international shipping.
