Job summary

RDO Equipment in Sydney is seeking a Service Supervisor to lead the workshop team, ensure exceptional customer service, and coordinate day-to-day operations of a busy service department.

You don’t necessarily need to be an experienced supervisor; with a strong technical background and leadership potential, you could move into a leadership role and help train technicians and support staff while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical/technical background required or preferred.
• Experience with diagnostics, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, guide and develop a workshop team and coordinate activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and advise customers over the phone.
• Monitor and manage daily workshop workflow ensuring safety and quality.
• Assign jobs to Service Technicians and support team members.
• Schedule and conduct in-house training for technicians and apprentices.
• Maintain product knowledge and liaise with Parts Department as required.
• Assist with management and resolution of customer concerns and disputes.
• Support timely completion of warranty claims and WIP requirements.
• Review repair work before equipment is released to customers for quality checks.
• Drive a strong safety culture and lead by example in the workshop.

About the Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the workshop, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow management, and a safe, productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service, seeking customer feedback, and offering advice to customers over the phone
• Monitoring and managing daily workshop workflow while ensuring compliance with company procedures and standards
• Assigning jobs to Service Technicians and supporting team members with performance, development, and day-to-day operational matters
• Scheduling and conducting in-house training for Service Technicians and apprentices
• Maintaining product knowledge and liaising with the Parts Department as required
• Assisting with the management and resolution of customer concerns and disputes in conjunction with the Service Manager
• Supporting the timely completion of warranty claims and work-in-progress (WIP) requirements
• Reviewing repair work before equipment is released to customers to ensure quality standards are met
• Driving a strong safety culture and leading by example within the workshop

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A strong mechanical or technical background
• A Mechanical Trade Certificate (preferred)
• Experience with diagnostics, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• The ability to support, guide and work with a team
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills
• A mature, logical and methodical approach to your work
• A current and valid driver’s licence
• High-risk work tickets and/or licences will be highly regarded
