Job summary

Rentco Transport is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician - Heavy Diesel based from our Minto branch. The role operates on a Monday to Friday roster with extensive time spent on customer sites across the region.

You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across Rentco's fleet and customer equipment, working both in the workshop and in the field to keep vehicles safe and operational.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic.
• Experience maintaining heavy vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Current unrestricted driver licence (HR licence preferred).
• Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems and diagnostic software.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Team player with ability to work independently in the field.
• Flexible and adaptable to customer needs.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Field Service Technician - Heavy Diesel to join our team. This position is based from our Minto branch and operates on a Monday to Friday roster. While the role is based at Minto, you will spend a significant portion of your time attending customer sites and responding to field service requirements across the region.

About the Role

As a qualified and experienced Field Service Technician, you will provide high-quality maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and breakdown support across Rentco's fleet and customer equipment. Working independently in the field and collaboratively with the broader maintenance team, you will deliver responsive and professional service to customers while ensuring vehicles and equipment remain safe, compliant and operational.

This role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work across a diverse range of heavy vehicles and equipment in both workshop and field environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on trucks, trailers and associated equipment.
• Attend customer sites to undertake inspections, diagnostics, servicing and repairs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Carry out engine, brake, suspension, drivetrain and general repair work as required.
• Respond to breakdowns and roadside service requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete all work in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company standards and safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation and job reports.
• Build positive working relationships with customers by delivering excellent onsite service and technical support.

About You

• Trade qualified Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, trailers and associated equipment.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage field service activities with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Current unrestricted driver's licence (HR licence highly regarded).
• Experience working with hydraulic systems, electrical systems and diagnostic software.
• A strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while delivering outcomes independently in the field.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to responding to operational and customer requirements.
