Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd in Mackay is seeking an experienced Foreman to lead the Mineshop workshop team. You will drive safety, manage a team of tradespeople, coordinate daily activities, and deliver high-quality customer outcomes.

This permanent, Monday–Friday role offers a pathway to develop people and improve productivity. You will oversee planning, quotes, and financial performance while building strong customer relationships and ensuring timely delivery of service commitments.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified – Diesel Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent.
• Experienced leader – led teams in workshop/mining environments.
• Technical expertise in heavy mobile equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
• People and performance focused – manage teams and workloads.
• Planning and coordination – workshop scheduling and labour planning.
• Strong communicator – stakeholder management at all levels.
• Problem-solving mindset – identify issues and implement solutions.
• Safety and quality focused – uphold high standards.

Responsibilities

• Drive safety leadership – promote a strong safety culture through regular engagement, communication and improvement initiatives.
• Maintain safety compliance – ensure safety management systems are implemented and adhered to.
• Build customer relationships – work with customers, managers and employees to deliver service outcomes.
• Lead team performance – monitor results, communicate expectations, identify improvement opportunities.
• Maximise productivity – achieve and exceed service KPIs by addressing issues and solutions.
• Plan and allocate resources – align team goals, budgets, work plans and resources with objectives.
• Oversee quoting and estimates – ensure quotations are accurate, timely and followed up.
• Monitor financial performance – identify budget variances and take corrective actions.
• Manage work order performance – oversee estimated vs actual costs and training needs.
• Drive quality and efficiency – monitor WIP and collaborate with service teams.
• Support delivery commitments – ensure machines and components are completed on time and within budget.
