Job summary

Hastings Deering in Mackay is seeking motivated Trades Assistants to support our workshop operations. These permanent, Monday to Friday roles offer hands-on experience in a leading heavy equipment environment while assisting skilled tradespeople and production teams.

Join our LRE team to help assemble, refurbish and prepare components, while maintaining safety and quality standards. Forklift licence is preferred and a strong work ethic is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a workshop, manufacturing, or trade assistant role is valued.
• Forklift licence is preferred.
• Mechanically minded with hands-on aptitude and interest in tools and equipment.
• Commitment to safety and safe work practices at all times.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills in a workshop environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist trades personnel with equipment assembly, preparation, and build activities to ensure efficient workflow and quality outcomes.
• Prepare parts and components for production schedules, keeping teams on track.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-compliant workspace.
• Provide general support across daily workshop activities to help achieve team goals.
• Assist with cleaning and preparation of electrical and mechanical components for refurbishment.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely and follow workshop procedures.
• Maintain workshop standards and support technicians as required.
