Shape the future of Armadale’s transport network
If you’re a traffic and transportation engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, turning technical analysis into practical outcomes and having a genuine influence on how a growing community moves — this could be your next chapter.
Armadale is one of the fastest growing areas in WA, bringing a wide variety of traffic and transportation challenges and opportunities. This is your chance to use your technical expertise to help shape the transport network for years to come.
At Armadale we are growing at an exponential rate and on the path to fulfil our role as a Strategic Metropolitan Centre. This means we need to continue to plan for, and think differently, about how we develop our built and natural environment so that our community have access to spaces which are safe, functional and attractive.
Also important is that our operational and project teams are set up to successfully meet our community’s changing needs, continue to deliver outstanding services and sustainably manage our assets.
As our Senior Traffic & Transportation Engineer, you’ll be the City’s specialist in traffic and transportation engineering, providing high-level advice that helps us make safe, evidence-based decisions for our growing community.
This is a strategic role rather than a day-to-day traffic management position. You’ll work across the City and with external stakeholders to investigate transport issues, undertake traffic modelling and assessments, develop strategic solutions and help turn those solutions into funded projects.
Your work will span everything from major road upgrades and school zone developments to traffic impact assessments, road safety and development proposals.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
No two days will be quite the same. You might start the day reviewing a development application, move into traffic modelling or a road safety investigation, work with a consultant on a transport solution, and finish by preparing a funding application that could help deliver a major upgrade in the community.
You’re a strategic thinker who enjoys getting into the detail but can also see the bigger picture.
You bring:
Most importantly, you’re someone who can combine sound engineering judgement with a practical understanding of what works for a growing community.
We are a values led organisation guided by our belief that we:
Joining our team means embracing a culture where we look after ourselves, and each other. We actively listen and give and receive constructive feedback. We build and strengthen resilience, in ourselves, in our organisation, and in the community. We are mindful of our impacts and encouraged to make responsible and sustainable decisions.
The City of Armadale is committed to creating a diverse workforce. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous people, people with disabilities, and those from different cultural backgrounds, to apply.
We are also dedicated to upholding the highest standards of child safety. In alignment with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, we ensure our recruitment practices include thorough background checks, training, and ongoing education for all employees and volunteers who interact with children. Our goal is to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people in our community.
