Job summary

u&u Recruitment Partners is partnering with a large Queensland Government department for a major Microsoft 365 transformation. We seek a Senior Technical Specialist – Data Migration to lead school data migrations into a modern Microsoft 365 environment.

You will plan, coordinate and execute migrations, building repeatable processes and automation for large-scale delivery across multiple waves and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering large-scale Microsoft 365 migrations.
• Hands-on with migration tools: ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Manager.
• Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive.
• Experience migrating data from on-premises to Microsoft 365.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience with Microsoft Graph APIs.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication.
• Ability to produce migration reports and runbooks.

Senior Technical Specialist - Data Migration

u&u Recruitment Partners is partnering with a large Queensland Government department delivering a major Microsoft 365 transformation program. We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Specialist – Data Migration to play a key role in the successful migration of schools into a modern Microsoft 365 environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands on migration specialist who enjoys working across enterprise scale environments, solving complex technical challenges and contributing to a high profile digital transformation program.

The role

As the Senior Technical Specialist – Data Migration, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and executing school data migrations to Microsoft 365. You will work closely with project teams, technical specialists and stakeholders to ensure seamless migration outcomes while developing repeatable processes and automation to support large scale delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering data migration activities across multiple schools and migration waves;
• Conducting migration assessments, identifying risks and resolving data quality issues;
• Configuring and administering migration tools such as ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Manager or similar platforms;
• Monitoring migration activities and troubleshooting migration failures, permissions issues and exceptions;
• Performing migration validation, reconciliation and data integrity checks;
• Developing PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to streamline migration activities;
• Utilising Microsoft Graph and APIs to support reporting and process automation;
• Producing migration reports, dashboards, technical documentation and runbooks; and
• Collaborating with project teams and business stakeholders to ensure successful migration outcomes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Strong experience delivering large scale Microsoft 365 migration projects;
• Hands on experience with ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Manager or comparable migration platforms;
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive;
• Experience migrating data from on premises file shares and file servers into Microsoft 365;
• Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation capability;
• Experience working with Microsoft Graph and related APIs;
• Strong troubleshooting skills across migration tooling, permissions and data related issues;
• Experience producing migration reporting and status dashboards;
• Knowledge of NTFS permissions, Microsoft 365 permissions and access control concepts; and
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly regarded

• Experience within Queensland Government, Education or other large enterprise environments;
• Microsoft 365 transformation or rollout experience;
• Power BI reporting experience; and
• SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams administration experience.
