Job summary

Sydney Water is seeking a Technical Specialist to support business customers and protect our wastewater network. This role requires hands-on technical guidance, assurance activities, and effective stakeholder engagement across councils, consultants, and industry groups.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years in a relevant technical role.
• Strong knowledge of trade wastewater management and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to translate technical info for diverse stakeholders.
• Proven experience building productive customer/regulator relationships.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with technical reviews, audits, assurance or risk assessments.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice across low, medium and high-risk business customers.
• Represent Sydney Water in technical discussions with councils, consultants, industry groups and business customers.
• Build trusted stakeholder relationships to promote understanding of Sydney Water's requirements and standards.
• Lead technical reviews of complex trade wastewater proposals and customer activities.
• Deliver assurance, audit and risk-based compliance activities to protect assets and environment.
• Analyse customer performance and operational data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.
• Contribute to policy, guideline and process improvements for better outcomes.
• Support incident response with specialist technical expertise.
