Workforce Extensions Sutherland is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Service Engineer to join our team in a hands-on technical role. You will service, maintain, troubleshoot and support wastewater treatment systems across customer sites.

This role focuses on practical problem-solving, field service, installation and commissioning, with strong opportunities to develop expertise in the wastewater treatment industry.

Qualifications

• Experience in wastewater treatment or related mechanical/engineering background.
• Strong practical skills and the right attitude.
• Knowledge of pumps, mixers, pipework, chemical dosing and pH control systems.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical or process‑related equipment.
• AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience is desirable.
• Strong communication and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment and process issues at customer sites and provide practical technical solutions.

Workforce Extensions Sutherland are seeking a motivated Wastewater Treatment Service Engineer to join our team in a hands‑on technical role servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting wastewater treatment systems across a range of customer sites.

The Role

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out on-site servicing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of wastewater treatment equipment and systems

• Attending customer sites to diagnose equipment and process issues and provide practical technical solutions

• Operating, servicing and maintaining wastewater treatment plants and associated equipment

• Servicing and installing pumps, pumping systems, mixers and chemical dosing equipment

• Working with pH control systems and associated wastewater equipment

• Supporting the installation, commissioning and start‑up of wastewater treatment equipment and systems

• Monitoring equipment and system performance and identifying operational issues or opportunities for improvement

• Preparing engineering drawings, equipment layouts, quotations and technical documentation

• Assisting with basic system design, modifications and engineering requirements where required

• Reading and interpreting equipment drawings, layouts and technical documentation

• Coordinating installation projects, contractors, suppliers and site activities

• Providing technical support and guidance to customers regarding equipment operation and maintenance

• Liaising with clients, suppliers and project teams to ensure the efficient completion of service and installation works

• Completing site‑based service and maintenance work

• Maintaining accurate service records and reporting on site activities

• Travelling to customer sites as required

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, technically minded and enjoys solving problems.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in wastewater treatment, plant operation, servicing or maintenance

• Mechanical, electrical, environmental or process engineering experience

• Knowledge of pumps, mixers, pipework, chemical dosing and pH control systems

• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical or process‑related equipment

• Experience with wastewater treatment system design is advantageous

• AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience is desirable

• Strong practical and hands‑on skills

• Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability

• Strong communication, organization and time management skills

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers or site activities is advantageous

• Valid Australian Driver's License

• Full Australian working rights

Experience & Training

Previous wastewater treatment experience is preferred; however, we are open to candidates from related mechanical, electrical, engineering or technical backgrounds who have strong practical skills and the right attitude. Training and support will be provided to the right candidate to help develop your wastewater treatment knowledge, engineering capabilities and technical skills.
