Job summary

IAG is seeking a Manager, Technical Claims to lead the Technical Claims function within the Broker and Specialist Claims team, handling complex, high-value claims across our retail and intermediated brands. You will guide challenging claim matters, negotiate settlements, and deliver fair outcomes in a permanent full-time role based in Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington.

Qualifications

• Significant general insurance and claims leadership experience.
• Experience managing complex, high-value, disputed or litigated claims.
• Ability to make timely, well-reasoned decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
• Legal qualifications or substantial experience with claims litigation would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for one of IAG's largest, most complex claims.
• Ensure complex claims are managed with clear strategies and timely decisions.
• Establish technical governance, quality assurance and review for complex claims.
• Build trusted relationships with brokers, insurers, legal firms and service providers.
• Contribute to strategic direction and performance of Broker and Specialist Claims.
• Lead initiatives to improve technical capability, claims quality and customer experience.
