Job summary

CHU, Australia’s leading strata underwriting agency, is seeking a seasoned Claims Manager to lead national major loss operations and elevate service delivery. You will drive KPIs, manage dispersed teams, and shape strategic initiatives within a progressive, hybrid-working environment.

You will work closely with the Head of Claims and other business units to optimise processes, negotiate complex claims and ensure exceptional customer experience. ANZIIF Cert IV is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive general insurance and complex/catastrophe claims experience.
• Strong operational and service-quality knowledge.
• Proven leadership across dispersed teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisational capability.
• Experience working with assessors, repairers, brokers and strata managers.
• Understanding of reinsurance, risk transfer and authority limits; ANZIIF Cert IV preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead national major loss operations, ensuring delivery of KPIs and high-quality Concierge claims service.
• Manage team performance and development, including recruitment, coaching, mentoring and audits.
• Drive transformation, process improvement and strategic initiatives across the claims function.
• Provide strong internal and external leadership, collaborating with underwriting, attritional claims, liability and IDR.
• Oversee technical claims management, triage and SLA performance, handling first-tier customer complaints.
• Assess and influence changes to products, services and operational practices in response to customer expectations and strategy shifts.
