Job summary

TAL Australia is seeking a skilled Claims Technical Specialist to lead technical guidance across Group Claims and support Claims Consultants and leaders in managing complex, sensitive claims. You’ll apply policy interpretation, regulatory requirements and best-practice claims management to drive high-quality outcomes.

You will also build technical capability through coaching, case reviews and knowledge sharing, partnering with leaders to strengthen delegated authority and improve processes

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Group Life Insurance claims and TPDis/Income Protection.
• Experience coaching, mentoring or developing claims professionals.
• Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear direction.
• Strong stakeholder management across Claims and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; translating complex matters into guidance.
• Collaborative and pragmatic adviser to Consultants and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice across complex claims.
• Provide technical oversight on adverse claims and contractual remedies.
• Review and endorse claim decisions within delegated authority.
• Act as SME in policy interpretation and regulatory requirements.
• Guide claim strategy and coach staff to strengthen capability.
• Lead case conferences and knowledge-sharing to improve practices.
• Identify gaps and drive coaching, training and development initiatives.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and external partners.
